Gear shaping machines for cylindrical workpieces

Gear shaping machines from MHD Werkzeugmaschinen enable the precise and efficient production of internal and external cylindrical gears in the diameter range 160 to 650 mm. The gear shaping process is applied when, due to interfering contours on workpieces, production using the gear hobbing process is impossible.

All gear shaping machines in this series are equipped with a hydrostatic spindle bearing and hydrostatic guides.

The machines’ main assemblies are made of grey cast iron featuring outstanding cushioning characteristics, ideally suited for absorbing any process-induced vibrations.

MHD Werkzeugmaschinen use the latest Sinumerik 840D sl controller generation with digital drive technology. Process monitoring and data export according to Industry 4.0 standards is warranted.

SMZ 16

SMZ 16 Gear shaping machine

Flexible and compact shaping machine from MHD Werkzeugmaschinen for the production of internal and external gears on cylindrical workpieces. The machine can effectively and highly accurately cut cylindrical gears in the diameter range from 20 to 160 mm using the gear shaping process; it is therefore suitable for small quantities as well as for the production of large batch sizes.

Thanks to our intuitive operator guidance qualified personnel can operate the SMZ 16 gear shaping machine after only a few days of training. For example, a 19″ touchscreen with well-structured input masks enables fast data entries and facilitates the change from one workpiece to the next. In addition, the adjustable axial slide simplifies workpiece changes and significantly reduces setup times.
